Michael Rodgers

Michael is a musician and photographer, practicing both separately and concurrently. Much of his art reflects personal ideas of distance, relationships, wonder, and things that are invisible. Michael was born in 1978 and grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. He has lived in London since 2000.

From 2001-2007 Michael co-ran the experimental music label TwoThousandAnd, for which he was principal designer and recorded several albums. In Spring 2008 his work for TwoThousandAnd was shown in Norwich Arts Centre's D.I.Y. exhibition, celebrating self-promotional labels and hand-made products. He has exhibited for London Independent Photography ('06-'07), and at the Viewfinder Gallery in London ('08-'09). Over the past ten years Michael has performed solo and collaborative concerts in Europe, USA, Australia and Japan.

In 2010 Michael began Lost Lights, a project focused on producing creative audiovisual material. The first Lost Lights release is titled 'Twilight, Birds' and is made up of photographs, guitar and field recordings. He is currently finishing work on 'A Thousand Things', a piece about life in the city based on still images. Future projects will investigate urban imagination and the qualities of the harmonica.
