About Lost Lights

Lost Lights Audiovisual Projects was launched in 2010 to produce artworks focused on three principal aims:

The first is to explore the relationship between audio and visual elements. Lost Lights founder Michael Rodgers received much praise for his designs with the TwoThousandAnd label, which produced albums with handmade packaging. As the level of his visual expression rose to meet his passion for music-making, Michael questioned the traditional 'album with good artwork'. Lost Lights seeks to produce artworks where audio and visual material have equal roles. Neither is packaging for the other.

The second is to produce artworks that are 'undownloable'. Part of this is the integration of audiovisual materials. For example, you may file-share the audio from a particular Lost Lights release, but without the photographic prints in your hand, you only have half of the artwork. Lost Lights is not 'anti-digital' - it simply thinks an artwork should be experienced in the format for which it was created. The great hope is that listeners/viewers will appreciate the whole of a Lost Lights release and support its production.

The third is the undeniable drive to express and create in the face of limited sales, limited audiences, and limited time. The pleasure is in the making, however slow, and in sharing with whatever number of people have the enthusiasm.

Lost Lights accepts the uncertainty, futility, and romanticism of its endeavours and hopes you will enjoy the results.
